Dmitri N. Smirnov: FIRST PIANO CONCERTO, Op. 8, 1971, 20' . Full score. The orchestra: 2.2.2.2—4.2.3.1—percussion—strings. The First Concerto by Dmitri N. Smirnov was written at the end of 1971 in Moscow. The three movement composition includes: 1. Allegro con brio, 2. Andante sostenuto, and 3. Allegro. It has many typical features of a romantic concerto: virtuoso cadenzas, the sonata allegro form as the first movement, the theme with variations (or passacaglia) as the slow second one and the sonata rondo as the finale. Despite the rigorous use of 12-tone technique the music has clear tonal implications: with E Minor as the main key in the first movement and the finale, and A Minor in the middle movement. Первый концерт Дмитрия Николаевича Смирнова был написан в конце 1971 года в Москве. Трехчастный цикл состоит из: 1. Allegro con brio, 2. Andante sostenuto и 3. Allegro. В сочинении много характерных черт романтического концерта: виртуозные каденции, соната аллегро в качестве первой части, тема с вариациями (или пассакалия) в качестве медленной второй и соната рондо в финале. Несмотря на строгое использование 12-тональной техники, музыка имеет четкие тональные черты: ми минор в качестве основной тональности в первой части и финале, ля минор в средней части.
