On design: Sector E plate Illustration: A muscular nude man is seen from behind facing downward. His white hair streams back (or up) toward his feet, while a beard, barely discernible from above along the edge of his jaw, makes it likely that this is Urizen. His body and left leg arc to the left; his right leg is bent toward the viewer, exposing the sole of his right foot. His arms are drawn back and his elbows are bent, as if the weight of his body is resting on his hands, which in turn are braced on what may be rock, earth, or clouds at the bottom of the design. His lower body is partly enveloped in a filmy, semi-transparent substance, perhaps clouds. His position, along with his streaming hair and beard, suggests falling, floating, or hovering.
