Кто есть кто
Награда — грош, за всея жизни путь:
Отцовский произвол, побои, бегство,
За войны юных лет и тяжкий труд,
За славу, что не получил в наследство.
Известен всем — он открывал моря,
Вершины брал, охотился, рыбачил...
Писали, горечи хлебнул не зря:
Он от любви страдал — народ судачил.
При всей чести, остался он один,
И сплетникам понять довольно сложно,
Зачем затворником сей господин
Грустит в дому, коль жить без горя можно.
Он чудных длинных писем уйму написал
Не сохранили их... а он ответа ждал.

Un șiling dă viața...
Un șiling dă viața pentru toate:
Bătaia tatei, fuga de acasă,
Și munca grea, și nepăsarea gloatei...
Că și-a făcut renume — ei nu-i pasă.
Lupta, vîna, a fost pescar și calfă,
Urcase munți și denumi o mare;
Iar unii chiar scriau, că nu se află
Printre poeți, o dragoste mai mare.
Și totuși, a rămas holtei stingher,
Deși avea și casă, și grădină,
Și-ar fi putut trăi ca un boier -
Ci sufletu-i tînjea fără hodină.
Scria mesaje lungi și minunate,
Dar nu au fost de adresat păstrate.
