Досуг
Что наша жизнь, когда полна забот —
Нет времени стоять, разинув рот,
В тени торчать, где рощ зелёный кров,
Беря пример с овец или коров,
И некогда смотреть, спеша сквозь лес,
Где прячут белки свой деликатес.
Не ловим в речке мы, средь бела дня,
Как ночью в небе, звёзд поток со дна
Нам дела нет до танца быстрых ног,
Что миг наполнить красотою б мог,
И ждать нет времени, пока в устах
Мелькнёт улыбка, чей исток — в глазах.
Как жизнь пуста, когда полна забот...
Не до восторгов — дел невпроворот!

And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

Răgazul
Ce-i viața, când avem atâta treabă?
N-avem răgaz să stăm, fără de grabă,
Privind în jur, ca turma cea de oi,
Sau vacile, ce pasc colea-n zăvoi.
Nu observăm, trecînd pădurea deasă,
Cum veverița nuci în iarbă lasă,
Și nu vedem, în plină zi, pe cer,
Izvor de stele și de adevăr.
N-avem răgaz, cu ochii pe la fete,
S-apreciem picioarele lor svelte,
Nici n-avem timp să așteptăm cu dor,
Să ne mângâie cu surâsul lor...
Ce-i viața, când le facem toate-n grabă,
Dar nu prea reușim chiar mare treabă?
