Как я люблю? Сравненья перечту.
Люблю до той предельной глубины,
И шири, и небесной вышины,
Где дух, немея, смотрит за черту.
Еще люблю, как жизни простоту,
Спокойный быт, где явь сменяет сны.
Так любят правду те, кто ей верны.
Так чистый духом любит прямоту.
Люблю с наивной верой детских дней,
Питавшей плач, забытый поутру,
Люблю со страстью юности моей,
В слезах и в смехе, в холод и в жару.
И если Бог захочет - лишь сильней
Я полюблю тебя, когда умру.[2]

- ↑ Sonnets from the Portuguese, written ca. 1845–1846 and first published in 1850, is a collection of 44 love sonnets written by Browning. She was initially hesitant to publish the poems, believing they were too personal, but, her husband insisted they were the best sequence of English-language sonnets since Shakespeare's time and urged her to publish them. To offer the couple some privacy, she decided to publish them as if they were translations of foreign sonnets.
